Had a lot fun time shooting my Indian friend that modeled for my winter shoot. We shot this at St. Bonaventure University in Western New York. She is originally from Dubai, in the U.A.E. I would LOVE to be able to do a shoot over there this year or next year. So many opportunities…so little time. I had a fun time as always shooting in a new place. It’s good to be back in Wilmington, North Carolina to start shooting locally again.

Anyway, I’d love to hear what you guys think about these images!

North Carolina Beach Wedding

Just sitting around the house getting some ideas together for “Wilmington’s Wedding Showcase.” I’ve got some ideas kicking around already(thank you Pinterest). Going with a country chic kind of look. Think, mason jars, burlap, repurposed wood and frames. Having fun putting it all together, but it makes me realize…I need a truck and a workshop! I did finally get some of the new prints ordered though. First canvas arrived today(pictured above). The new business cards will be here tomorrow. So much work, so much fun. I’m looking forward to meeting all the brides at the show. Hopefully they’ll appreciate the creativity I’ve put into the booth.

On my recent trip to Antigua, I met with wedding planner extradonaire Diana of “I Do, Guatemala.” After spending so much time talking through email it was finally nice to meet face to face over a drink and some delicious pizza. I’m really looking forward to shooting some weddings down there. The venues are like nothing we have in the U.S.A. Old churches and Spanish relics turn into amazes wedding and reception venues. It’s a photographer’s dream. I also look forward to being able to working on more humanitarian projects while I shoot down there. Part of what I enjoy, giving back. I’m lucky enough to be able to do what I love and share that success with others. Ain’t life grand!

Fundraiser for Luz de Fatima Orphanage!

Orphan, Guatemala, Guatemala city, Charity,

So the time is coming near for the big fundraiser event. On February 21st from 6-9pm we will be holding the fundraiser at earthBound Salon & Day Spa. There will be live music, food, local craft vendors who will be giving partial proceeds to the fundraising efforts. Of course, we’ll gladly accept all cash donations. I hope to see everyone there! Tell your friends!

Story: On my many trips to Guatemala to see friends and photograph the countryside I’ve become acutely aware of the poverty and social issues that plague Guatemala. On my last trip I worked with this particular orphanage taking photos and video for them. They don’t receive any government aid and rely solely on private donations. The kids there were AWESOME! It’s amazing how kids that have suffered that kind of trauma can be some full of hope and happiness. As I was leaving one girl gave me a hug and told me, “Now you have a friend in Guatemala.” …well, I help my friends.
